  • He uses parables specifically so people won’t understand unless they do the work
  • He quotes Isaiah 6, indicating that people have closed their eyes and ears because they don’t want to change
  • His measuring stick for success is transformation, not information transfer

Western teaching prioritizes:

Modern Western Misapplication

Many Western teachers use this parable to encourage evangelism: “Go sow seed everywhere - some people will receive it, some won’t. Don’t be discouraged.” This interpretation:

  • Makes us the sower instead of God
  • Reaffirms our existing beliefs rather than challenging us
  • Focuses on others rather than self-examination
  • Misses the transformative intent of the parable
